- Job Title: Personal Injury Solicitor – Military claims
- Location: Manchester
- Salary: £35,000 – £45,000
- Reports to: National Department Head
- Background: Candidates must have a consistently strong academic record. Previous experience of bringing claims against the MOD would be a major advantage. That said, candidates with strong general personal injury experience are also being considered.
THE MILITARY TEAM IN MORE DETAIL
This is a nationally recognised department. The lawyers within the team are at the very top of their game and represent servicemen and women from all the major UK regiments including the special services. The type of work can vary from more common RTA, EL/PL and industrial disease to highly serious personal injury matters resulting in long-term injuries with severe physical and psychological ramifications.
Many of the matters are high-profile cases brought against the MOD. The lawyers in the team are highly experienced with a level of outstanding technical proficiency. The successful applicant can be guaranteed an environment which is challenging and where they will be working with some of the best personal injury lawyers in the country.
WHAT THEY ARE LOOKING FOR
The team is looking to attract bright, hard-working and resilient lawyers. Whilst the department is very supportive, the nature of the work sometimes means that lawyers must work under pressure to secure the right result for the client. Fee earners must demonstrate fantastic technical ability, but that alone is not enough. The successful applicant will be the person who demonstrates that ‘X factor’ for being not just a brilliant lawyer, but someone with a practical approach and who also demonstrates genuine empathy with the client.
WHY MILITARY WORK
The nature of the work is unlike that done by any other personal injury team. It offers the chance to get involved in a truly varied caseload where one will get the opportunity to make a genuine difference to service men and women who deserve justice. Expect to be challenged and tested from day one, though you will enjoy the full guidance and support of a driven, yet friendly team.
